New Store In The Hamptons; SUMMER ONLY!!

Turns out, where the fashion folk go, the clothes have a way of following. T.B.D. is the latest in what's turned out to be a string of Hamptons pop-up shops this summer. (Steven Alan, J.Crew, and Hermès are among the brands to open temporary spaces.) Blame (or thank) that ol' recession—rather than let storefronts sit empty, owners are increasingly willing to rent them out for the high season only. In this case, the closure of a long-standing sewing store cleared the way for NYC natives Peter Hananel and Jesse Warren to open their men's boutique in Southampton.

The address may be South Fork, but the goods are more NYC. Unis, Rag & Bone, A.P.C. Madras, and Save Khaki make up the clothing offerings, with accessories from Super Sunglasses and Salvor Projects. (Beach reads come courtesy of Williamsburg's Spoonbill & Sugartown Books, though trashy airport novels they're not—think Colson Whitehead, Michel Houellebecq, and a handful of glossy art/design journals.) It's all pretty assured for two guys who don't have typical retail backgrounds—until recently, Hananel was in real estate equity. Not a bad Plan B, even if he does plan to close in September. And after that? Hananel laughs: "T.B.D."
