I'm sorry about yesterday folks... I was a tad busy dealing with certain aspects of life and being as responsible as it's required... Like it's expected. So I didn't make it to post but I'm ALWAYS on Twitter!!! So you should follow me =)
Anywhom.... Happy Happy Hour folks!!! Here's my track of choice this evening!!! I couldn't wish you the best without some music to vibe to transitioning into your evening.... So here's "Bucktown" by Smif-N-Wessun. PARTAKE!!!
With the threat of a severe snow storm involving MOST of America East of the Mississippi (and rain to add insult to injury) it doesn't look like many folks will be stepping out until tomorrow when shies will be clear again. I wish you all a lovely weekend and here are Complex's TV Picks of the Day along with a special treat in honor of February- the month that holds claim to Valentine's Day and Black History Month- for the lovers out there.
"A Blues For Nina" off of Love Jones- the greatest African-American romance film ever.
This is like my Number 2 favorite movie of all time (only after of "City Og God")....
One of the smoothest sections in the film. I had to post it cuz some girls I look like Mr. Tate the other day. With that being said, I watched "Love Jones" the other day and I been on this shit ever since...
I'm so in love with this track. This song is from the 1964 album "Getz/Gilberto" by Stan Getz & João Gilberto. The music video is from the 1964 film "Get Yourself a College Girl".... Though I've never seen the flick, I was told that the music video is like an actual scene from the movie.... Now I got a few ideas!!! LOL
Yo... It's getting a little cloudy out there and I think it's gonna rain hella hard so I decided to lay off the heavy rap today and just act like I've acquired a level of class.... So here lies one of my favorite tracks by Ms. Badu...
Peace and tranquility people... Thanks for following
Listening to the "Kind Of Blue" album changed my life FOREVER, and a lot of that album's impact on me is based off of this song. I recommend the album for ANY music lover-especially one who is not afraid to cross barriers and listen to jazz.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs (and one of the top ones from Tip)!!! Fam, I was crazy young when this track dropped.... This was one of the singles off of T.I.'s debut album, "I'm Serious" alongside the self-titled lead single. Both were Neptunes productions, but this one was mad smooth and laid-back!!
This is still on my bedroom mix on my iTunes... A lot of folks got hip to T.I. after this album, but I definitely started with this one... And even back then he was saying he was "The King of the South"...
I've been bumping this for MONTHS now online, I think it's about time for me to download (or buy on iTunes) some of his works.... Check out his MySpace when you get the chance. Dude is pretty smooth- in a cosmopolitan, hipster, youthful kind of way.
I have no idea why, but this is my vibe as of right now (my musical moods sway at rapid paces).... I worked like a 9-hour shift today, sold a few cars at the auction. Chilled, then had conference calls all day. Now I'm posted at home on my laptop in front of the fireplace watching the All-Star Game and this song popped in my head....
Kinda smooth though. I recommend the entire "I Want You" album by Marvin Gaye for any serious love-making opportunities. Classic as hell- but a LOT of folks my age wouldn't know good music even if that's what they were conceived from LOL
I first heard this instrumental on MTV Cribs as a kid and fell in love with the track just off the beat alone... Then I became a teen and started hanging in record stores and I discovered the Roots for what they truly are.... I eventually figured out the title of the track and looked up the video...
It still fancies the imagination. Classic, if there ever was such a thing.
It doesn't matter who you are, ever since the first Jackson 5 record dropped, EVERYONE'S life has been effected by the existence of Michael Jackson afterwards....
MJ, you will be missed, and I personally owe my existence to you... if it were not for you, there would be no me... Though you are not the Almighty Heavenly Father, I do consider your life to be a sweet gift from Him to Earth to make music exciting on a higher level and redefine what "entertainment" truly means.... You are the god of popular culture, and you are an icon on many levels....
My all-time favorite song by Michael Jackson: "I Can't Help It"
I SWEAR to you.... I wish I was born and raised in the south (at least visited more often than I did to experience the culture)!!! I mean, I'm a St. Louis native and our black culture is HEAVILY engulfed in Southern culture, but we're still not the South!! It was close enough for me to grow up and wanting to be like Pimp C (R.I.P) when I grew up and going to parties and actually KNOWING what "syrup" was when the Three 6 Mafia track came on.... BUT I wish I could've grew up listening to DJ Screw, walking through the ATL streets and seeing the Dungeon Family riding by on a ot summer Saturday, and shit like that....
I love the South, but since I didn't grow up there, I bump shit like THIS on a DAILY basis to cool out and just relax.... I feel like I got a Southern soul and a East coast mentality- either way, I'm still 100% St. Louis!!
